Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner - Calculate and enter data for employee hours, overtime, and deductions - Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures - Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees - Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve any discrepancies - Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and terminations - Generate reports on payroll expenses, taxes, and deductions as needed - Collaborate with HR department to ensure accurate employee data and payroll information - Assist with year-end payroll activities such as W-2 preparation and ACA Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role - Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and labor laws - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry - Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger accounts - Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively - Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Note:

_____________________________________________________________________________________________ We are in the beginning stages of creating a separate Payroll Clerk position.
It would be a part time position until July 1 and would then become a regular full-time position with benefit options.
Responsibilities would focus on the Payroll operations for over 150 employees.
This would include not only the timesheet/time clock calculations, but the payroll processing, payment of taxes, any garnishments, uploading of information to secure sites for processing, and working with HR to ensure any other deductions are correct.
Also keeps track of sick/vacation time for all employees.
Candidate will need to have a complete understanding of the existing personnel policies and have the confidence to enforce.
Our current payroll clerk will be keeping the payables function and act as the backup payroll clerk, but will be on hand to train and answer any questions that you may have.
After the transition to fulltime, responsibilities would include:
Payroll Clerk as explained above Assisting in the installment of a time clock system with departments Back up to Human Resources.
This will include the complete understanding of the personnel policies, being able to onboard new employees, and have high knowledge of available benefits such as the insurances and TCRS (retirement).
Assist with office tasks such as filing, organizing, answering phones, assisting the Mayor, etc We are also considering moving the Purchasing responsibilities to this position within the next year.
This includes opening up purchase orders for different departments, matching them with invoices and having the invoices signed by the appropriate dept head, coding to the correct accounting function, and turning over to accounts payable for payment processing.
The beginning pay rate starts at $16.
88/hr $35,110 annually.
